  • I Spent My Own Money on Graveyard Keeper DLCs—Here’s Why You Should Too.

If you’re looking for a Graveyard Keeper DLC guide 2026 edition, you’re in the right place. I recently grabbed the game while it was free-to-keep on the PlayStation Store, but I quickly realized that to really enjoy the experience, I needed more. Here is why I spent my own money on the expansions and how they change the game.

After hitting a few walls, I decided to invest in the Stranger Sins and Breaking Dead expansions. If you’re wondering if you should spend money on a “free” game, here is my honest take and the tips that saved my sanity.

Graveyard Keeper DLC Guide: Is Breaking Dead & Stranger Sins Worth It?

My Kitchen Garden setup. Once you get zombies involved here, the game changes completely.

The base game is fun, but it can feel like a full-time job. I bought these two specifically to pivot from “manual labor” to “empire management.”

    • Breaking Dead (Zombies): This isn’t just an expansion; it’s a total gameplay overhaul. I went from carrying stones one by one to having a Zombie Wood Mine, Stone Mine, and Iron Mine. I even have zombies running my Vineyard and Brewery. If you hate the “walking back and forth” simulator, this is mandatory.
    • Stranger Sins (The Tavern): I unlocked the Tavern immediately. It’s the ultimate way to get a steady flow of gold. Plus, the questline for the artifacts adds the deep lore the base game is missing.

Advanced Zombie Surgery: Don’t Just Bury the Body

When I first started, I was just resurrecting any old corpse. That was a mistake. Think of your zombies like a computer upgrade: if you use a raw corpse, you’re running on 4GB of RAM. If you “clean it up,” you’re overclocking it.

The Pro Tip: Before you make a zombie, remove the blood and fat. These are “pure” upgrades—they remove red skulls and add white ones. This makes your zombies work significantly faster. I also take out the intestines if I need to balance the skulls further. A high-tier zombie can do the work of four basic ones.

How to Break the “Point Bottleneck” (Blue & Green)

Everyone hits the wall where they can’t unlock new tech because they lack points. Here is how I keep my research moving:

    • Blue Points: My go-to is mass-producing stone grave fences. It’s the most reliable “grind” for blue points. Bonus Tip: If you have the furnace running, making glass conical flasks is a great “set it and forget it” way to keep blue points trickling in while you’re at the Tavern.
    • Green Points: Don’t overthink this. Head to the river or the swamp and dig up clay. It’s fast, free, and keeps your tech tree growing.

The heart of the operation. Having multiple furnaces and workstations is the only way to keep up with the craft demand.

Quality of Life Hacks (The “Paper & Pen” Method)

This game has dozens of recipes, and the menus can be a pain to navigate.

    • The Notepad Strategy: I started writing down every ingredient I needed for a specific craft on a physical notepad. It sounds old-school, but it saves you from running across the map only to realize you forgot one simple piece of pigskin.
    • The Teleport Log Trick: Buy the Teleport Stone from Horadric (the Innkeeper) immediately. It’s permanent, not a consumable. Pro-Tip: You can actually hold a massive log or stone slab over your head and teleport with it. This is the fastest way to stock up your zombie mines.
    • Chest Mania: Build way more chests than you think you need. You will accumulate thousands of items, and “inventory full” is a vibe-killer.

The Artifact Hunt (Stranger Sins Roadmap)

I’m currently deep in the quest to find all the artifacts. One thing the game doesn’t tell you: It’s not just about digging. To progress the artifact story, you need to throw “Events” at your Tavern (like Comedy Standup or Rat Races) to build your Reputation. If your rep is too low, the NPCs won’t give you the items you need. Don’t ignore your bar!

PS5 Technical Fix: Game Won’t Load?

I ran into a glitch where the game struggled to load or acted up on my console. If this happens to you, don’t panic or reinstall. Just go to your PS5 System Settings and Restore Licenses. It worked instantly for me and saved my brewery progress.

If you haven’t grabbed your copy yet, you can find the game and its expansions on the official PlayStation Store. It’s definitely worth checking out if you’re a fan of management sims.

    Is Your Graveyard Automated Yet?

I hope you have enjoyed my Graveyard Keeper DLC guide 2026. Transitioning from the manual grind of the base game to a fully automated zombie empire is the most rewarding part of the experience. Whether you are focus-farming blue points with stone fences or hosting a comedy night at your Tavern, these expansions make the world feel much more alive.

If you’re a fan of management games where you turn chaos into a streamlined business, you might also enjoy my upcoming deep dive into Gas Station Simulator. Much like the tavern in Graveyard Keeper, it’s all about balancing upgrades and keeping customers happy!
