Hi, I’m Niamh — welcome to ThinkDataHub.
I’m 28, currently living in Scotland after moving up from England last year with my wife and our two cats, Clover and Poppy. Life’s pretty full — I do cleaning work on the side, and before all of this I spent years managing pubs as an assistant manager. Not exactly a traditional route into tech, but here we are.
I’m currently studying Computing and IT BSc Honours with the Open University, and I’m heading into the Software Engineering pathway — which is honestly the most excited I’ve ever been about a direction in my life.
I started ThinkDataHub as somewhere to document that journey. The late nights studying, the things I’m building, the stuff that clicks and the stuff that really doesn’t. I wanted it to be real — not another polished tech blog written by someone who makes it all look easy.
If you’re a student, self-taught, or just someone trying to break into tech from a completely different background — you’re exactly who I’m writing for.
Alongside the blog I build Notion templates and run a weekly newsletter with practical portfolio challenges to help people at the start of their tech journey actually build something worth showing employers.
Clover and Poppy occasionally supervise the studying. They are not helpful but they are very cute.
— Niamh
